Jobs in the UK
There are various websites that advertise academic and related jobs in the UK. The following are not a specific recommendation but a collection of popular sites.
- Jobs in Research, Science, Academic & Related professions.
- Times Higher Education.
- Guardian Jobs.
- Academic360.
- Jobs1.
- The EURAXESS website features jobs for researchers in the UK and Europe.
If you are intending to work in the UK and are not a UK citizen, the certificates and qualifications you have gained in your home country may differ from those specified in advertisements for jobs in the UK. Job roles usually demand UK qualifications at a certain level and it can be confusing for non-UK candidates to assess whether they have the relevant qualifications.
NARIC is the national agency, managed on behalf of the UK Government, and provide the only official source of information on international qualifications. Both organisations recruiting from overseas and individuals wishing to work or study in the UK can use NARIC to compare the qualifications they have gained in their home country to UK qualifications. NARIC charge a fee for this service. Contact NARIC for more information.
The UCU also has an online guide for new staff in further and higher education that covers several areas including this topic. (pdf document).
